The voting system guides participants through one or more voting phases to collectively decide on event details. The process varies depending on your planning type.

⚠️ Votes Are Final

You cannot change your vote once submitted. Make sure to review your selections carefully before confirming.

Voting Phases Overview

Location Voting Date+Location and Location-Only events
Date Voting Round 1 All date voting events
Date Voting Round 2 Only if Round 1 ends in a tie
Finalization Creator finalizes event details

Location Voting

Who participates: All participants + event creator

When it happens: First phase for Date+Location events, only phase for Location-Only events

1 Cast Your Vote

Select one or more location options you prefer. You can choose multiple locations, but once you submit, your vote cannot be changed.

📍 Location Voting Features

• Vote counts are visible to all participants
• You can see who has voted (but not what they voted for)
• Progress bar shows voting completion
• Voting deadline is clearly displayed

2 Automatic Resolution

When all participants vote OR the deadline passes:

  • Clear winner: Most voted location is automatically selected
  • Tie result: System randomly picks one of the tied locations
  • Location-Only events: Event is immediately finalized
  • Date+Location events: Proceed to date voting

Date Voting

Who participates: All participants + event creator

When it happens: After location voting (if applicable) or immediately for Date-Only events

Round 1: Initial Date Voting

2 Round 1 Results

When all participants vote or deadline passes:

  • Clear winner: Event moves to finalization phase
  • Tie result: Automatically triggers Round 2 voting

Round 2: Tie-Breaking (If Needed)

1 Tie-Breaking Vote

When triggered: Multiple dates tied for most votes in Round 1

Options available: Only the tied dates from Round 1

Deadline: Automatic 2-hour voting window

🔄 Round 2 Process

• All previous votes are cleared
• Fresh voting on only tied options
• All participants get notified about Round 2
• Shorter deadline (2 hours from start)

2 Round 2 Outcomes
  • Clear winner: Event moves to finalization
  • Still tied: Creator must manually select final date

Voting Progress & Status

Vote counts: Number of votes per option
Participation: Who has voted vs. who hasn't
Progress: Percentage of participants who voted
Deadline: Time remaining to vote
Your votes: Options you selected (highlighted)

🔒 Privacy Protection

While you can see vote counts and who has voted, you cannot see what specific options other participants chose. Only aggregate numbers are visible.

Automatic Advancement

Voting phases advance automatically when:

  • 100% participation: All participants have voted
  • Clear results: No ties requiring additional rounds
  • System processing: Winner selection and notifications complete
⏰ Deadline Management

When deadline passes without 100% participation:
• Voting immediately stops for all participants
• Creator gets two options:
  - Extend deadline: Add 1-24 hours from current time (slider selection)
  - Advance round: Proceed to next phase (with option to remove non-voters)
• System waits for creator decision (no automatic progression)
• All participants see "deadline passed" status until creator acts

Notifications During Voting

Participants receive notifications for:

  • Voting invitations: When voting phases begin
  • Round 2 announcements: When ties trigger additional voting
  • Voting completion: When phases end and results are in
  • Deadline reminders: Alerts to vote before time runs out
  • Option changes: If creator modifies voting choices
