Sync Contacts
The fastest way to find friends who are already using SeeUThere is to sync your device contacts. This feature uses privacy-focused technology to protect your personal information.
SeeUThere uses advanced privacy protection - your phone numbers are converted to secure hashes (SHA-256) before being sent to our servers. We never see your actual phone numbers.
How Contact Sync Works
Grant Permission
Tap "Find friends from contacts" and grant permission to access your contacts. This permission is required by your device to protect your privacy.
If you deny permission, you can enable it later in your device settings. The app will guide you to the right settings screen.
Secure Processing
The app processes your contacts locally on your device:
- Extracts phone numbers from contacts
- Converts them to secure SHA-256 hashes
- Sends only the hashes to find matches
- Never transmits actual phone numbers or contact names
View Results
Found contacts appear with their contact names (from your phone) alongside their SeeUThere usernames. You can then send friend requests to any of them.
Contact Sync Features
- Manual Process: Contact sync is always user-initiated - no automatic background syncing
- Smart Filtering: Excludes people who are already your friends or have pending requests
- Contact Names: Shows the names from your contacts to help you identify people
- One-Time Process: Each sync is independent - no contact data is stored
You can control contact access through your device settings at any time. The app includes an info button (â) that explains exactly how contact sync works and links to privacy settings.
